When do porcelain veneers start to yellow?
I have not had any cosmetic work done, apart from fillings. However, I have been told that I will need full tooth restoration due to heavy staining. I was born with severe asthma and received several powerful meds. My baby teeth weren't too bad, but once they fell out and my adult teeth came through, they were severely discolored. The dentist explained to me that the meds discolored my teeth and ate some of my enamel, and that only porcelain could fix the problem.
I have been doing a lot of research and have read some horror stories about the veneers yellowing. I would hate to waste money that I saved up for my hummer, if I am going to end up with discolored teeth again. When do veneers start to yellow? Are there veneers that last a lifetime?
The only type of veneer that will discolor is a composite veneer. Porcelain veneers will never stain or discolor. If you want all of your teeth lighter, make sure you do the whitening first because the veneers will not lighten or change shade if they were matched to your teeth before bleaching. Nothing lasts a life time and veneers are expected to last 10 - 15 years. Good luck.
