Is there a metal antiquing or oxidizing solution for home use for crafters?
I have various non-precious metal charms and jewelry findings I would like to oxidize so they are darker and not shiny. Metals include brass, copper, bronze, nickel, tin, tibet silver, pewter, etc.
The oxidizers I have found seem to be marketed towards professional jewelers and for gold and silver, and have hazmat warnings.
Vinegar works. Any mild acid will effect metals. Depending on how long the piece sits and soaks determines what results you get. Try the metals until you get the effect you want. Remember to wash them in cold water to stop the process.
