Penang Temples
Temples and Churches in Penang are metaphorical in Malaysia, as in part to the pure number of inhabitants in the community, riches of the culture especially from the second World War, when most of the Penang temples were built.
Temples or Churches is more than a place of worship. It is a place especially for mental relax and harmony places. The architectural is the valuable asset that heritage an ancient art form based on great religious traditional.

The Hainan temple founded at year 1866. This temple established by Hainanese community to dedicated to patron deity of seafarers, Mazu. Some local people called it as "Thean Ho Keong". Temple architectural is built based on the Hainanese style and Sung dynasty even imported craftsmen from China to remodel the stonework.

The Kek Lo Si temple was built at year 1890 inspired by the chief monk of the Goddess of Mercy Temple of Pitt Street. The construction is still going on until today. It is the biggest Chinese temple in Malaysia and the finest Buddhist temple in South East Asia. How proud is it Penang?
The temple build based on old ancient Chinese art and the beautiful craft of "Pagoda of ten Thousand Buddha". This pagoda combines a Chinese octagonal based middle tier of Thai design, and a Burmese crown, reveal the temple's consisted ideologist of both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism.

The Mahamariaman temple, normally called Sri Mariamman temple was built since year 1833 and regarded as the oldest Hindu temple in Penang. The temple is located at Queen street. The temple is offer to Lord Mariamman; Hindu deity. Mariamman is a expression of the goddess; Parvati, an manifestation embodying Mother Earth with all her startling force. She is connected with disease and fever and protects her devotees from unsanctified events.
The temple is decorated with beautiful and amazing 23.5 feet tall sculptures or gopuram with 38 statues of Hindu deities and four swans featuring the Hindu Goddess Mariamman in her many incarnations. The Hindu God, Lord Subramaniam statue at temple Mahamariam pilot the procession during Thaipusam festival. There is thousands of devotees visit to offer their prayers to Lord mahamariam especially on Thaipussam and Deepavali.
