What the heck is a snuff bottle?
I seen a snuff bottle worth $2,000 at a auction in NYC -- what the heck is it? Why are there so many of them around...TY.
What it amounts to is: snuff bottles were small fashionable decorative objects. Fashionable, so lots of people with money had a few in various designs, to show off. Some were very elaborately decorated or made of valuable materials, which makes them desirable even now. A generation ago it was cigarette cases or powder compacts.
