Give me the strange man, the mystery
thing with contorted dreams.
Give me the lion that sits in his filth
glaring at you from behind the bars.
Give me the elf who carves his refuge
into the mossy underground.
Give me the lovers, hag and troll,
holding the child and fighting
over the juicy parts.
Give me the witches that
come from the darkest place
wearing the threads that only
tickle their frozen nakedness.
Give me an elbow and a knee
and I will forgive you,
after I curse you.
Give me the statue in the park
of the hero, covered in bird shit.
Give me the pigeons, that
were never heroes, that
wait for your crumbs.
We will come together and talk,
and for a moment,
we will understand.
