porcelain bowl blue and white?
I have a porcelain blue and white bowl that look like a ashtray, the rims look like the ashtray can someone tell me about it ? I think it's Kangxi porcelain
There is so much blue and white porcelain around, first made in China in the Middle Ages and inspired by ceramics from the Middle East (they travelled along the Silk Route). What basis do you have for thinking that your bowl was made during the reign of the Emperor Kang Xi (1662-1722)? If it is a mark on the base, the Chinese were very fond of paying homage to the emperors of previous eras. A link to a photo would have helped (not to judge the age, but for information). A good art auctioneer should have a look at it, as it is very, very difficult to tell at a glance.
