anyone ever been an au pair in china?
with the program hhs ??
was it good ? did you like the program? anything I should know?
(thanks for your response- I say ''au pair'' but the program is a bit different than an au pair in the traditional sense- it's an exchange program where westerners go to teach english/western culture to a chinese family, and in return learn chinese/eastern culture.
do you have a url for that site?
thank you guys so much- I've been researching, I just have not come up with much regarding this program. it seems new- started in 2006.
BSherman nailed it on the head.
Having coordinated many teaching gigs for folks, I can tell you most of the "programs" similar to what you are referring to are scams. If you do end up over there, expect to be worked as hard as a Chinese "Ayee" and get less time off as they will parade you around like a prized circus animal.
You will also, most likely, be paired up with a Chinese family that has little to NO knowledge of English, so be ready to fend for yourselves. There have also been instances of sexual assaults on young ladies who have tried programs such as this. So, be wary and do your research. I'm sure there are some good programs out there, but I have yet to run into anyone who has had anything positive to say about them.
Post your question on dave's esl cafe's website to see if anyone over there has any suggestions for a reputable program.
