What are those little Chinese incense stands/housings called?
It is almost like the Miniature of the front veranda of a Chinese house - or box shaped with walls only on the floor, back wall, and top. It has a base where the incense and offerings are placed, a back wall, and a roof. There will usually be a little statue of Buddha placed against the back wall, with the incense in font and then the offerings in front of the incense. Dimensions are about 40-60 cm wide, 30cm deep, 40-50cm high. Sometimes they are plastic and are usually red with gold chinese decorations and a Chinese style looking roof or it can have a plain flat top surface. Sometimes they are made of wood and are dark stained varnished with Chinese style engravings.
They are called altar's.
