Can someone please help me understand ....?
The Dalai Lama makes teaching lessons on the Four Noble Truths, Permit to Begin Amitabha Medicine Buddha and Initiation. What are these?!
The Four Noble Truths is the foundation of all Buddhist teachings. To really understand needed comprehensive study of the authentic books and qualified teachers (as His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who also wrote several excellent books on the subject.) In summary, the Four Noble Truths are: 1. The truth of suffering: What is suffering, how we live and how it affects us? Impermanence, aging, disease, death and so on. 2. The origin of suffering: Where does suffering come from, how it arises and what are the relationships between the mind or way of thinking and suffering we experience. Why do we experience the same kind of situation so totally different if we are happy, safe and in balance or unhappy, worried and out of balance? 3. The release of suffering: What is the status of freedom from suffering (Nirvana =)? Is it possible (yes!) And what are the benefits of achieving it? 4. How can we achieve liberation from suffering? What is the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhahood and how practice? In short, how can we move from suffering to liberation? There are three types of tantric initiations: 1. Wang - an initiation, usually takes several days, which gives full instructions and empowerment to all practices involved in the particular deity. Includes jenang and lung. 2. Jenang - opening Limited transferred through a short ritual that gives you the power to use the particular mantra, and if Wang has received another in the same or higher level tantric practice of the sadhana (the particular ritual prayer, visualization and meditation regarding that deity). If you do not have a wang relevant, is mostly taken as a blessing and empowerment of reciting the mantra. Includes lung. 3. Lung - mere oral transmission (which means that the teacher reads aloud texts), which gives the power to recite the mantra. More information about the different levels of initiation, see this page (in section 5: Empowerment - Different Types close the bottom of the page): http://www.tibethaus.com/buddhismus-tantra+M52087573ab0.html Buddha Amitabha is the Buddha of infinite light and seen as the embodiment of love and compassion. Buddhists often make prayers and aspirations to come to birth in Sukhavati, which is the pure land of Amitabha Buddha, and where conditions are thought to be ideal for Buddhist practices to attain Buddhahood, then the welfare of all sentient beings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amitabha The Medicine Buddha (Bhaisajyaguru) is the Buddha of medicine and healing. Cited for mental and physical healing, but also for spiritual healing "three poisons" (The root causes of all suffering according to Buddhist teachings): desire, hatred and ignorance: You http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicine_Buddha More information in my reply to your other question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/ index; _ylt = Aj.8uGjAibyl2hZZ1fR6t7Xty6IX;? _ylv = 3 20090907204217AAwa5XR qid = & show = 7 # profile-info-Sr60qURjaa If you want even more, I recommend you join the great Buddhist discussion forum for e-Sangha in this initiation and training very session by His Holiness the Dalai Lama has already been discussed in a separate thread (with discussions about how to best prepare for these events): You have to http://www.lioncity.net/buddhism/index.php? showtopic = 88939 You can also read the discussions on any subject Buddhist, you may want to know more, and ask any questions you may have.
