17th, 18th and 19th Century Asian Artists and example of their work?
Hello, I'm doing an art project and i've chosen to do art from other cultures. as i'm really interested in asian art i decided to focus entirely on art from the 17th century to the 19th century.
I already have examples of work from the Japanese Ukiyo-e artists Hiroshige and Hokusai.
So if you know any other asian artists (not necessarily Ukiyo-e artists but painters etc. also) i would really appreciate it if you could give their name and 3 examples of their work, whether that's a link to the image or just the name of the piece.
Thank you very much in advance and have a really nice day!
Laina
If you want to stick with Ukiyo-e, then there are plenty of possibilities. Ogata Gekko is a good one, although he's right at the end of the period you're looking for (some of his work is in the first years of the 20th century). There are four nice images by Ishikawa Toyonobu in the Wikimedia collection which you might like to see as well. Ryūkōsai Jokei would be another possibility - a google search turns up a lot of images of his work, too.
If you';d prefer to contrast the ones you've got with some other cultures, perhaps an Indian Mughal artist like Ustad Mansur would be worth mentioning. There are also any number of fine painters from the Chinese Qing Dynasty (which covers those three centuries, plus a little bit before and after) who might be worth considering.
I've attached a few links below which are to details of the art and artists.
PS - I hope you have a good day too!
