Culture in the early civilizations was also greatly influenced by geography. In Document 1-2, it is easily understandable that Ancient China’s isolation created a unique culture in addition to its economic success. Religions such as Daoism and Confucianism spread as “pure” religions because there was little to no influence and blending. Also, because there was no cultural diffusion, the Chinese culture and government was attractive and considerably unique. In addition to China, Egypt’s dependency on the Nile is shown through Document 1-6, except from the “Hymn of the Nile”. In this source, Ancient Egyptian civilizations are shown to be dependent upon the Nile River for life, food, animals, and water. Because of this, the Egyptian culture and religion were always based on worshipping/praising the Nile River and hoping for its annual floods. Overall, ancient civilization cultures such as those of China and Egypt were influenced by geography.
