Why the Chinese call "the Tibet Xizang? Tibetans do not see their country as "west" of anything?
The Tibetans have no reason for the name of their country as 'West' (xi) of anything. Does this not suggest the very name used to name China Tibet is has nothing to do with how Tibetans see themselves, everything related to the number of Chinese view of Tibet, which show that Tibet has nothing to do with China? Japan is like calling China's "West Country" (XI guo) because it is in western Japan, which shows China belongs to Japan because the Japanese named and west of them. Thoughts and comments?
It has, of course, nothing to do with the name used by the Tibetans themselves. In Tibetan, the name of the country is Bod, of unknown meaning. Interestingly, the Chinese name Xizang not derived from the name of the whole of Tibet, but only from the central province name, U-Tsang (dbus Gtsang). Tsang (Chinese Zang treasure =) means pure in Tibetan, which means central Ü. The Tibetan name "Central Tsang" is thus, ironically provided "Western Tsang "in Chinese. But of course, lies in the West if you see it from China.
